The Stasi in Supermarkets
For those of you who don't read German, it's an article detailing how a supermarket chain systematically spied on its employees by use of a hidden camera, creating multi-page reports on how often and when employees used the restroom, with whom they may be having a romantic relationship, or even if they are appearing "introverted or naive". Lidl, the company in question, has had a number of complaints over the years of violating the rights of its employees, some of which have been officially charged. And I thought Slaveway was bad.
UPDATE: Apparently the company is sorry. That makes everything better.

"The company is sorry" stimmt so ja nun nicht ganz. Da wurde sich ja nur für irgendwelches Fehlverhalten der Detekteien u.ä. entschuldigt. Ein eigentliches Aufdecken der ganzen Geschichte ist ja wohl bis heute nicht wirklich geschehen. Da werden dann lieber irgendwelche Imagekampagnen gestartet um auch ja weiter alle Schnäppchenjäger anzulocken. Ich glaube kaum, dass die Verantwortlichen ihre Stühle verlassen mussten.
